JA Biztown
The Elizabethtown Area School District partners with Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania to provide students with meaningful, real-world learning experiences that support financial literacy, career awareness, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility. As part of the District's Life Ready Learning approach, these experiences help students connect classroom instruction with the skills and knowledge needed for future success.
At Bear Creek School, fifth-grade students participate in JA BizTown, an immersive educational program that combines classroom learning with a hands-on simulation of a real community. Students apply concepts learned in reading, mathematics, social studies, economics, and financial literacy as they operate businesses, manage personal finances, and work together to keep a simulated town running successfully.
JA BizTown helps students strengthen critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while developing a greater understanding of business, economics, and the important role individuals play within a community. Through this engaging experience, students gain valuable insight into how classroom learning connects to future careers and everyday life.
JA BizTown is one of several Junior Achievement experiences offered throughout a student's educational journey in the Elizabethtown Area School District and serves as an important milestone in preparing students to become Life Ready graduates.
